SPINAL PHYSIOTHERAPY
Lower back pain is the most common form of musculoskeletal problem in the western world. Some conservative studies estimate that over 80% of us at some point in our lives, will experience back discomfort. Sticking with statistics, if you have experienced back pain at some point in your life, there is a significant chance that you will experience it again.

So is it all doom and gloom? Not at all! Curing a back issue tends to be simple, if done properly and we at Nordic Rehab are very experienced at helping people with back pain (even those who have suffered long term and chronic symptoms) to regain normal movement and function, come off their pain control and get back to day to day living. Covering Solihull and Birmingham, our specialist physiotherapists will assess and treat you in the comfort of your own home or your staff within a work package, if you are a business owner.

Best of all, by continuing applying Nordic Rehab principles long term, there is absolutely no need to ever experience a 'bad back' again.
If the above sounds too good to be true, we would love to show you it isn't! Get in touch and let’s sort your back out - together.
CAUSES OF SPINAL CONDITIONS
In the majority of cases, bad postural habits and a natural movement imbalance sit at the foundation of the problems. Over 90% of all acute back problems relate to soft tissue sprains. We have an awful lot of soft tissues in and around our spines!
Did the spasm come on acutely from doing a simple, every day action like bending down, turning over in bed, getting out of the car or stepping a bit awkwardly? It is very plausible that this action was the final straw, and is unlikely to be the actual cause for the discomfort you are now feeling.
The primary cause tends to be years of bad posture, a lifetime of mainly forward bending of your spine, a lack of ‘correct’ back exercise and little maintenance of your valuable back. If this sounds familiar to you, then Nordic Rehab can ease your back pain and problems.
There are times where slightly more complex scenarios can occur. However, these scenarios are thankfully rare. A small percentage of all acute back pain relate to the following conditions:

-
Significant disc prolapses
-
Spinal fractures
-
Scoliosis (and other childhood conditions)
-
Hypermobility
However, even such conditions can make good recovery and certainly become much more manageable.
Have you been diagnosed with a slipped disc or a disc bulge to explain your back problem? Have you been left in limbo because surgery is not indicated for you? You may be interested in knowing that a large percentage of people have disc bulges - diagnosed by MRI- but have absolutely no symptoms from these. This means that a disc bulge does not need to a) be the cause of your problem and b) be a limitation to your full recovery.

SPINAL INJURY PHYSIOTHERAPY TREATMENT
We will carry out an in depth assessment of your back, and provide a sensible and logical explanation about your back complaint. It is essential that you fully understand what is going on with your back, and going forward, what we can do together to sort it out.

Nordic Rehab understand that you would like to see recovery sooner rather than later. This means that anything you can do to help speed up the process will save you pain, time, money and frustration. After carrying out our assessment, we will treat your back. We are an experienced group of physiotherapists and we will be able to help you. We will then leave you with some exercises to carry out on a daily basis. It is essential that you carry out these exercises in line with our advice.
After your back has seen reasonable recovery, and you have no longer any need for active spinal physio input, you will need to carry on with maintenance of your back in the long term. Spending 2-3 minutes on a daily basis carrying out some simple exercises can be the difference between having and not having a bad back. If this sounds like a chore, consider your teeth: Would you stop brushing your teeth daily after the dentist have filled a cavity, or would it spur you on to do more for your teeth to prevent it from ever happening again? We hope it is the latter and encourage this positive and active attitude.

If the above sounds like a positive way forward for your back problems, please contact us today. We would love to work with you and help you sort your back out, the Nordic Rehab way.
