Goal – a noun meaning ‘the object of a person's ambition or effort; an aim or desired result’
When our clients start physio with us, we will always discuss their goals. It important that these goals are specific and personal. This helps the person visualise themselves achieving it. We will then break the goal down into smaller steps and target the rehab exercises around what is needed.
Here is a peek at some of the goals our clients have or had until recently.
Some have been achieved … which means it time to pick a new one!
To return to golf
To return to bowls
To walk to the train station and buy a coffee
To manage the steps at the train station and buy a coffee (coffee must be good at that train station!)
To walk all the way around the local lake
To get back on board the family canal boat
To get back to sleeping upstairs (so there is room for the Christmas tree downstairs!)
To use a knife and fork (this one has been achieved – cake was eaten first!)
To be able to get into the car, and be taken for a drive
To be able to shop for food independently
To use the wheelchair to access the kitchen and eat a meal with the family
Our physios can help you, give us a call if you want to be able to do something that you are struggling with.
